Thanks to all our audiences and musicians that made our Music Festival such a success.
We started with by showing the film Jalanan about the lives of street musicians in Jakarta. We were really pleased to get a DVD of this sent to us from Daniel Ziv, the director, as it is impossible find a copy for sale or download. Friday Arbie J gave another brilliant Midnight Blues, followed by Electratticus with Leth who transformed the shop into an electronic whirlpool of sound, laser lights and smoke. It was extraordinary in such a small space. On Saturday we had Zach Roddis' poetic tribute to One Direction. Though 'tribute' is not quite the right word as the event was more a hilarious deconstruction of the boy-band.
Lancaster Wytches and Boy on Junkyard played some brilliant folk and country music. If you were not there try to see them sometime soon. We ended with The Rat's Nest. Audiences of four were put inside a giant cardboard box while Rat Bit Kit played punk accordion for fifteen minutes. It was,in the words on a German who had been in the nest, 'Very conceptual!'
For the final set there were at least eight crammed into the box while RBK played wild accordion and tore the box down around them.
The next day the shop looked like a disaster area. But we all had a great time and things are now back to normal again…almost.
