The readaround to choose the winning monologue went brilliantly. We were delighted by the quality and variety of the monologues, as well as the quality of the reading and performance.
June 8, 2038. was a very moving meditation on a future death, but with a wry humour and  humanity that made one smile despite the sadness of the subject matter. It was also beautifully read by the writer, and while other monologues flashed and sparkled with touches of brilliance I think this was one that quietly touched the hearts of everyone in the audience and made it our winner.
It was fascinating to see the written monologues we knew so well on the page come to life before an audience and to see how these were interpreted by our Readers.
This is not the place to say thanks to all the individuals who put in so much work to make this competition a success - we'll do that elsewhere - so I'll just say a general thanks.
Thank you writers, readers and judges and everyone else who supported our first One Minute Monologue competition!
You made it all well worthwhile.

The photos of stone carvings used in the headers are from Indonesian and Cambodian temples. The pictures on the book pages are all old maps relating to the various subjects.
