A novel by Nobel prize winner, 2025 Lazlo Krasznahorkai. The book concerns Prince Genji's search for a hidden garden in Kyoto. Broken into short passages it is easy to read, unlike some recent Nobel Prize winners, despite the lengthy and complex sentence structure. The book has been described is dreamlike and exquisite. I can understand why; the prose is delicate and detailed the spider's web hung with morning dew. At times, I was reminded of Borges. Although this is a novel; or perhaps we; should call it a novella, as it is only 130 pages long; and not a selection of short stories.
